hey alexa! oh alexa! i wanna sex ya!

although not the first person to spring to mind when describing the gypsetter style, there is no denying that this little lady knows how to throw an outfit together...or two. she is best known for her preppy style of nautical dresses, shoe boots and boyfriend blazers but what us gypsy wannabes can really relate to is how effortless her style is. it appears as though she gets out of bed, leaves her hair as it is, applys little make-up and throws on the first thing that is lying about on her hip brooklyn apartment floor. ahh, if only it was that easy for the rest of us.

being named number 1 best dresser in vogue's 2009 poll and having mulberry use her as a muse for one their bags only reinstates the tv presenters impact on the fashion world.

what i love most about her though is her approach to fashion. alexa doesn't do sexy. or at least not the stereotypical ladsmag sexy that we are used to seeing other female stars filling up the tabloid fashion pages. even though she often shows off those fantastic legs in short shorts, she will usually opt for a modest baggy shirt to team with it, instantly turning the outfit from slutty to charming.

it is this approach which will make any gypsetter proud. scruffy, messy and unbelievably cool, this woman has it all. oh and just when you think she couldn't get any better, she lands herself a rockstar boyfriend in the shape of arctic monkeys frontman alex turner. jealous moi? yes. completely and utterly.

:)

"ooooh, pop the extractor on" gregg.

bit of a bum deal.

the bum bag, fanny pack, belly bag, buffalo pouch or the hip sack, call it what you wish but im sure it conjours up the same images for us all: oap's holidaying it up in benidorm or small children at disney. yes we've all owned one at some point but it's one of those items that we've buried deep deep deep into our fashion pasts with not a chance of a revival...until maybe now that is. designers went bum bag bonkers at the ss10 catwalks with louis vuitton, d&g and ashish all sporting the mini bag. fear not though, think less beige and khaki canvas styles currently loved and adorned by grandpa and ma but more acid brights covered in studs ala. ashish or tan leather with colourful fringing courtsey of louis vuitton (see above).

infact, the more and more i think about it the more and more i realise that the bum bag is a gypsetters perfect companion! it's ideal for festivals, allowing its wearer to stress less about pick pocketers and free up both hands for those euphoric sing-a-long moments. wonderful! as much as i would love to purchase the vuitton one (have you seen those tassles?) i think mr bank would love me much more if i settled for this tappestry urban outfitters version instead (see above).

suddenly the summer festival season cannot begin quick enough!

"he's gonna die...HE'S GONNA DIE!" gregg.

bonjour!

gypsetter: quite simply a gypsy who likes to jetset around the globe. you will usually find her tripping out on a croatian beach, purchasing harem pants from a local beachstore and sipping apple tea whilst puffing away on a shisha pipe.

when i grow up i want to be a gypsetter. standard. for the meantime though i shall indulge in perfecting my gypsetter look; think feathers, fringing and floaty dresses.

this blog therefore, is a way of sharing the best of my gypsetter finds, whether it be designer, highstreet or vintage.

i hope you enjoy!

:)

ooooh ps. i once made a promise to a friend that if i ever started up a blog i would end every post in one of his genius comical one-liners. and i hate not sticking to my word so here goes:

"here comes the spag bol!" gregg.
